Saturday APRIL 7, 2001 from Steve's
By Gary W.

I hardly knew what to expect. Steve F. had related to me that he had been under great stress for a long time due to his work situation and purchase of a new grandiose estate in the Rockaway Township vicinity. Upon receiving an invitation to run from his new estate, I wasn't sure what to expect. He said he was up for anything, so I assumed he was at least in decent condition. You cannot begin to imagine my amazement when, upon showing up, I could not even begin to recognize my longtime running sidekick, who apparently had succumbed to the great stresses of which he spoke. Here's what I confronted: Click here.

Getting on with the story - I thought it would be appropriate to establish a standard loop from Steve's new place. Within 1/2 hr. we found a power line traverse of the terrain which enabled us to achieve extended anaerobic levels while stumbling through muddy swamps and briars while climbing inclines which were barely hikeable. Steve uttered on several occasions "I can't do this, I can't go on..." to which I casually responded, "Sure you can...". Eventually we got past the bad terrain and the rest of the 2:30:00 run was pretty mellow. Well, Steve didn't really feel too good... Am I leaving anything out, Steve? Oh yeah, any Striders want to join us next time?

Please, Striders, send some of your stories....
