Tom Faruolo 3:24:00
Bob McGill 4:34:49 PR
Comments from Tom: I was shooting for a 3-20, but I'll take it. This is the fifth time I've run this race and the slowest. Even though it has lots of downhills for the first 20 or so miles, my mind and my body have trouble wanting to remember the uphills in the last part of the course, despite doing it 5 times. It was still a great day with great marathon weather.
Comments form Bob McGill: I ran my fastest marathon ever in 4:34:58. I would like to thank several members of the Striders, for helping me to run that fast, especially Sue Janssens, Bruce and Betty Langenkamp, John Guth, Sue Muhaw, Steve Austin, Barbara Hoess, Greg Mullins. Around mile 8, you had to go over a fire hose, since a building caught fire there around 7:30 in the morning and the race started at 8 in the morning. The wheelchair contestants had to be lifted over the hose.
Chicago Marathon: 10 October 2004
Kevin Higgins 2:53:23
Adam Hamtman 3:10:13
Comments from Adam: I ran Chicago also, the weather was great, just a little wind at some points. I slowed down at the end of the race; I think I held too much back during the race, because I sprinted the last .2 miles in a little over a minute. I ended up running my second fastest marathon 18 seconds slower than my best time. I managed to start four rows from the front which helped me not getting trampled at mile 3 when I tripped over the carpet and rolled going over one of the bridges across the Chicago River.

Barbara Ellicott 5:30:00
Comments from Barbara: On October l7th, I ran the most challenging (weather wise) marathon of my life! It was 39 degrees, with 45 mph winds and raining!!! So many runners suffered from hypothermia and/or dehydration! I was one of the lucky ones who finished 'whole'! My muscles 'locked up' at about the 20th mile mark from the bitter cold. I was glad that I was able to resort to a 13 minute mile race walk!
