This was a big day for the Striders!  Both the Men's & Women's 40 teams took 2nd and 4th in their division! Also, both the Men's & Women's 50 teams took 2nd. And finally, because the Women fielded a team for the 60's, they took 1st!!! Where is the Men's 60's team??

The day turned out to be perfect for running, even if it was a little cloudy and chilly for the picnic afterwards. Lots of new members showed up for the race and picnic afterwards and really helped the Striders teams. Chris was able to run her first Midland 15K race and came home with a second place age group award; congratulations. This was her second age group award in two weeks (she was second at the Our House 5 mile race), and she is now motivated to try to run the Liberty Half Marathon in September.

It was a day for ducks and die-hard runners as it rained throughout the race. I never thought that I would actually be cold running a race on Memorial Day. In spite of the bad weather, 600 runners finished the race. Chris ran one of her better 10K race finishing first in her age group. She was really thrilled when she picked up her miniature BMW trophy.

The Striders men’s open teams finished in fourth and sixth place.

Vermont City Marathon (Burlington): 25 May 2003

Comments from Tom: Lots of hills! With all the bad weather forecasts, it turned out to be great for marathoning. It stopped raining about a half hour before the start of the race with temperatures in the mid 50s, overcast, with little wind. My time was only good enough for eighth in age group. Would you believe some 55 year old dude ran a 2:54!  Just 20 weeks to Steamtown.
