The report from the many Striders who tackled Boston is that it was a HOT day for a marathon. Mike Los went for broke trying to run about 2:45 and held on for a 2:53 which got him 312th place! Mike Ferinden and Chuck Astor had a close race the entire distance - with Chuck edging Mike at the end and getting a 2:59:58 chip time - congrats! Steve Austin was running well, but had some leg problems during the 2nd half which cost him some time. Pam Fales, Linda Mirabella and Joyce Morgan apparently were running together at the start - which took them 11 or 12 minutes to get to because of the "corral system". A good reason to look at the "chip times" to see how you did. Some pics from Boston.

Comments from Bruce: The Striders survived the first rainy Woods and Lakes Run. In the 26 runnings, this was the only rainy one (according to the starter official). Steve Honthy took first and Bruce Langenkamp took 3rd. Betty Langenkamp took 3 AG in a RARE 10K for her. In the 5K, Nancy Baker was 1 AG. Many other Striders ran but did not place. Jeff McEntee, Dave Sullivan, Todd Boepple, and Ken Baker. Pam Fales was the Official Photographer for the Striders, and Steve Austin was also there to cheer us on.

The race course had to be modified from previous years due to construction at one of the Mountain Lakes. Unfortunately for race times, the alternate route included a good sized hill and some extra distance. The trails through the woods were mud puddles (with rocks and roots showing through) instead of dirt paths. We all got a bit cold, wet, and muddy. But everyone seemed to be in great spirits.
