Wineglass Marathon  6 Oct 2002
  51  Steve Fisher   3:11:45  PR
106  Steve Austin   3:26:58  PR
214  Pam Fales       3:39:21
256  Sue Muhaw    3:44:48
360  Bob Meade    3:59:01

A group of Striders traveled to this popular fall marathon, held in Corning, N.Y. Steve Fisher & Steve Austin led the way with times of 3:11 and 3:27 respectively. Pam Fales practiced what she preached and turned in a strong effort by running negative splits - where the last part is faster than the first. Kevin Higgins, a Strider advertiser (Runner's Haven) - finished 13th in 2:53!
Comments from Steve Austin: At the wineglass marathon, I did have a great race, and yes I did do a PR, but I will come clean now. Although a 3:22 is a great time, and I know I can, at sometime, run a 3:22, I did not finish at that time. If anyone checked the wineglass marathon when the results were first put out, they would see that my time was 3:09. Yea, I didn't do that time either. I don't know what my official time is because wineglass screwed up my results. I'm waiting for them to get it right. My best guess at my chip time is about 3:26:58. I passed the finish line as the clock turned to 3:27 and change, gun time. Still, it’s a PR that I'm happy with, and is a Boston Qualifier at the old time. The road trip that the group went on was fun, the weather was perfect, the wine was great, Steve F. was amusing, (SOS), and I would do it all over again.

10K Patriots Run: 6 October 2002
Will DeRoberts 42:11

Comments from Will: I ran the 10K run for Patriots last Sunday. Perhaps the most fun race I’ve ever done. A point-to-point 10K on a picture perfect day. We were all bused from the finish to the start and ran back on the path. 95% of it was on Patriots Path making it difficult to pass runners. Finished in 42:11, 10th overall, and 4th in my age group. Great goodies at the end. I did this race following a 22 mile training the day before. 15.5 miles of that run was the Haybale 25K race. That race was warm and humid. Did 6.5 miles before the race to bring my mileage up. A Steve Fisher weekend for me totaling over 28 miles.
