Despite the presence of no "big name" Striders, both teams managed to finish in 8th position. I believe at least one of the women was recruited pre-race to run for the team. The pollen was thick in the air on this challenging (hilly) course. The temperature was "cool", probably in the 60's after the race, a far cry from last years 96 degree killer conditions. Gary & Bruce battled for 50's honors and the women put a team together! Enough prize money was offered to get a good field - 24:30 men's winner, 28:28 women's winner.

Men’s 10K Team Results
Masters 40 A-team 5
Masters 40 B-team 9
Masters 50 2nd
Masters 60 1 (Compuscore did not score this team. However, we did have three
runners finish, so we should have won the division)
Women’s 10K Team Results
Masters 40 3rd
For the first time in this race Bruce was able to claim first place in his
age group; Roger is still slowed by a bad hamstring. Steve was a close second
behind Bruce with Bill Bossmann coming in third. Other Striders claiming BMWs
included Sherrie Sikora, who got first place because the runner ahead of her
actually won the race. Linda Mirabella led the women with a third place showing
in her age group. In addition to the trophies, the following Striders also won
money based upon age graded results (top ten age graded results won): Bruce,
Steve and Linda. Linda was actually in 11th place, but was moved up
to ninth place when two runners ahead of her were disqualified for not being
USATF members.
While Mike Los is not old enough to be on the master’s teams, he was the first Strider to finish. He accomplished this after starting at the back of the pack because he got to the starting line late. He also was delayed at the start because his shoelaces were not tied when the gun went off. Image what he could have done otherwise.
Bolder-Boulder 10K (Boulder, CO): 28 May 2001
Dennis Rears 57:20 1st NJ
Club President (No Overall Available)
Dennis ran this race for the 5th time in 6 years. Unfortunately, "I had my worst 10K ever, taking 57:20 to complete the race. Once again the altitude got to me. I was 11/28 out of New Jersey. There were over 40,000 finishers.
LET'S ALL PARTICIPATE THE REST OF THE YEAR!
