The Strider men’s and women’s teams performed very well. The men’s 50 team took first place when Raritan Valley was not able to enter five runners. This now puts the Striders 12 point ahead of Raritan Valley in the team standings. Two men’s 40 teams competed and finished in fourth and eighth place respectively. The women’s 40 team finished in third place even without most of the top runners being present.
Despite running a good race and finishing in 29:41, Steve Kohorst was not able to crack the top three in his new 50 year age group. It is ironic that he would have finished in second place if he was still 49. Steve Fisher continues to add to his legend running the 5 mile race in a reasonable time despite completing a hard 21 mile run in the morning. Steve was also showing off a nasty bee sting that he got on the morning run, which caused his entire thigh to swell up.
Ken Krah told me that his company has transferred him to a new location in Florida. Ken Krah is a long time member of the Striders as well as a friendly competitor when he ran for Tri-Athletics. Ken has already sold his house in Mountain Lakes and moved his family in Florida. Ken will be splitting his time between NJ and Florida until December when he will transfer full time to his new home. Some of you probably know his son Nathan who took up running when he was very young. Last year Nathan was one of the top freshmen cross country and track runners in Morris County. Ken indicated that Nathan will be pursuing cross country at his new high school in Florida. I would like to wish Ken the best of luck in his new home and hope that he can continue running with the same success that he had in NJ.
