The Morris County Striders running club will present the 3rd annual "Roxbury Community Benefit 5k" run on Monday June 6th 2011. We'll continue the tradition of holding the first Monday evening race for June in Roxbury. We are very excited to have this opportunity to serve the community of Roxbury.

This is a USATF ceritified 5k race on the local roads of Roxbury township. The race will be a 500 point category 1 race in the USATF-NJ New Balance North Jersey Individual Grand Prix. It is an out and back loop that is flat and fast. There will be 2 water stops and a post race party on the grounds of the Eisenhower Middle School.

June 6th, 2011- It was hot and humid day and had 496 runners cross the finish line. The 1st male was Anthony La Mastro of Flanders with a new course record time of 15:33:19. The 1st female was Kristen Stevens of Succasunna in a time of 18:41:65. The 1st male Roxbury resident was Ryan Fischlein of Succasunna with a time of 18:02. The 1st female Roxbury resident was Olivia Viparina of Ledgewood with a time of 19:51.

Runners and spectators were treated to a bagged lunch courtesy of Sandwiches Unlimited Lunch Box, Picnics Unlimited, Ledgewood&Wharton Farm, and Johanna Foods. Ice cream was provided by Cliff's Diary Maid. Bottled water was supplied by Family Life Church and ShopRite.

Medals were given out to the top 3 in each age group (top 5 in the 20 to 34 category) and teams. 1st place in each age group also received a gift for a Sportcraft outdoor game. Random prizes were raffled off by Runners Haven, Fuddruckers, Frank's Pizza, Outback, Ramsey Outdoors, Lotus Spa, RDA Fitness, Planet Fitness, Jazzercise, Road ID, Talium's Taekwondo, and many many more. The grand raffle prizes were a big outdoor bounce house from Sportcraft and a 1-day boat rental by Lake Hopatcong Marine.

The race ran smooth. Thanks to race committee, and all the volunteers for committing their time and effort to help out before, during and after the race. A special thanks goes to the Roxbury Police department and the Roxbury First Aid squad for making sure our runners were safe. Also special thanks to all the sponsors (listed below), without them this event would not be possible.

Awards: Top Man and Woman overall. Awards to the top five men and women in the 20 to 34 division. Top three in the 35 to 39, and all masters five-year age divisions. Youth divisions: 10&under, 11/12, 13/14,15/16, and 17 to 19. Special awards to the first Roxbury township residents.

Corprorate, Club, and Family Team Competition: Men, Women, and Coed divisions. Umlimited members on team, top three score. Teams must pre-register. No "B" teams.
