Meet The Striders
David Grossman

David Grossman joined the Striders about 2 years ago. He had noticed an ad and decided the club would give him the incentive he needed because none of his friends or family members were runners. Dave had started to run because he was "tired of being called the Pillsbury Dough Boy" (because of his naturally round face?) and a few extra pounds which he has since lost.
He recalls one Wednesday night run when he had an encounter with a bear. Dave says, "The bear must have known that I was a Strider because he turned and went the other way." (Perhaps a good reason to join the club?)
In 1996 Dave ran his first race at Ridgewood. He ran the 5k in about 30 minutes. Recently he ran a 5k in Tenafly in 24 minutes, which is his P.R. He ran the Midland 15k and now is training for the Liberty Half Marathon. He plans to run the New York Marathon in 2001.
Dave has been married to Jackie for 2 years. She thinks he is crazy, but otherwise supports his running. She enjoys taking him to buy running outfits.
Dave works weekends playing piano and keyboard for all kinds of engagements.
